What did you think of the movie adaptation?

  • Harry Potter/Twilight/Hunger Games Fans: They cut out a few parts, but we'll live.
  • Percy Jackson/Inheritance Cycle/A Series of Unfortunate Events Fans: I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT.
  • Avatar fans: THERE WAS NEVER A MOVIE, GET IT? NEVER!!
  • LOL no at the Harry Potter one.
  • Also I actually like the unfortunate events movie.

Themaciface’s job hunting saga

“Saga” would be more appropriate if I had actually made more than one post but I couldn’t do that because it hurt to talk about the lack of jobs I could hunt.

Anyway, I got a call from The Company that I Applied for Personally and Not on Jobstreet about the job offer earlier, I’m supposed to be there at six. It’s an excellent company and although it’s an entry level position, there are plenty of opportunities for going up. Also night shift, but it I don’t mind that; at least I won’t have the chance to try to beat up people in the MRT.

I just hope that I’m not just deluding myself about how much I want this job. I dunno, it feels like a part of me just wants any job (that I can use my major for, of course) so that I can rejoin the land of living.

I think I’ve only seen Iya and some of my high school friends since graduation. I just couldn’t bring myself to go to a barkada dinner and say “Nope, still jobless.

For personal reference because I can’t find my diary:

May 4 - RPO (Ayala company) - some IT position I forgot - too IT

May 6 - multinational RPO - Sales Support - They won’t return my calls, fine, I can take a hint. This interview happened on my birthday, btw.

May something - SEO company in Alabang - ditched interview because I’m not going to an office in Alabang ever

May something - Marketing research - I didn’t know shit about the preliminary test they sent me. Also the job’s home-based and I don’t need to be even more friendless than usual.

May 15 - the one I’m getting an offer from, finally.

Megan: I’ll just snowball on top of that. Also, Fight Club. Female Fight Club. We grease up, we pull in, Lillian doesn’t know, so it’s ‘Surprise! Were gonna fight.’ We beat the shit out her. She’s not gonna forget that.

What is this from I want to seeee

Glee. And no you don’t.
The DV storyline was done a million times better here than in Choke. And it’s also a million times better than Tinabot’s “plot.”

Think this shit’s funny?
Keep making rape jokes then.

It really gets me when people say things like “why didn’t you report them!?” or “it’s your fault, you let them walk free”. Statistically speaking, rapists will not be convicted, or tried or even brought in for questioning. The victim is lucky if their charges even get a second glance. Plus, the horrific things victims have to go through to prove that they’ve actually been victimized further damages their psyche and healing process, which should be their first priority above anything. It’s the sad reality we live in and rapists know this and it’s why they continue to be so prevalent. In addition, we live in a victim-blaming society where rape is considered a preventable situation in which a person can’t suppress their innate sexual urges instead of a violent, horrific crime. By saying things like “she was asking for it” or “they shouldn’t have been so drunk” suggests rape is something everyone is capable of if they’re tempted enough, which it most certainly is not.
These numbers need to change. This is embarrassing and disgusting, but we as a society, need to start rethinking how we even perceive rape before that can happen.

So there was this comment in the Pixar post I reblogged earlier

about how you can’t say that Pixar is awful in portraying women because his dead wife ~inspired the grumply old man to go on an adventure.

Yeah, no. Ellie had Manic Pixie Dream Girl written all over her. And you do realize that she was the only woman in the main cast and she was DEAD?
